Commercial retail and leisure developments

In December 2022, Vision Planning obtained Planning Permission for the Bath Pub Company to enable them to retain their hugely popular outside decking and bar at the Hare and Hounds pub in Lansdown, Bath.

The decking and bar was initially given only temporary planning permission because of the need for outdoor drinking and dining during Covid, but the Council made it clear at the time that they wanted it removed when the temporary permission ran out.

The Hare and Hounds is a listed building, and the Council’s conservation officer considered the outside decking and bar to be harmful to the listed building.

Along with specialist heritage advisers (Worlledge Associates) we made the case that the decking and bar were not harmful to the listed building, and that they delivered significant public benefits, including potentially enabling the pub to stay open.

On 14^th December 2022, the Council’s Planning Committee agreed with us, and approved the application, so the popular bar and decking can be retained.
