Planning Permission 20, High Street, Maldon, Essex
In February 2023, Vision Planning gained Planning Permission at appeal to enable a listed office building at 20 High Street, Maldon to be converted to three one bedroom flats, with a commercial space at the front.
Maldon District Council refused the application because of the loss of employment floorspace, and lack of marketing, and because they thought that the flats would be too cramped and have too little outdoor space.
We successfully argued that the marketing undertaken was sufficient and that the proposal in fact complied with Maldon’s policies relating to employment floorspace, and that given the need for small dwellings in Maldon and given the availability of local parks nearby, the flats would be perfect for young people, and would help Maldon’s High Street thrive.
The Inspector agreed with our case, and allowed the appeal.
