Planning Success Stories: Boyd Valley Lake “Class Q”, South Gloucestershire
In October 2023, Vision Planning obtained permission to turn an agricultural building into a house. Permitted development rights enable agricultural buildings to be turned into new dwellings, but there is ask the Council whether prior approval is required for this before it can be done.
This tends to involve persuading the Council that the building is an agricultural building, that the building can be “converted” to a new dwelling rather than it needing to be rebuilt, and that the existing building is sound enough structurally to support the proposed conversion.
There are other points too, but these tend to be the main ones. We successfully argued that the proposed conversion met all the necessary requirements, and prior
approval was granted on 30th October 2023.
